If you or your carers need a break then why not let us arrange a fun filled weekend away for you. If you’re a child or a young adult and want some outdoor fun why not try Calvert Trust in Barnstaple. You can have a go at rock climbing, abseiling, crate stacking, archery, swimming and even have a go on a zip wire. Calvert Trust also host themed weekends such as pampering weekends, Halloween and a ‘Turkey and Tinsel’ weekend in December.
The Centre is totally accessible and can provide hoists, bed sides, and some fully profiling beds. For young and old alike there’s the Bond Hotel in Blackpool. This hotel is totally geared up for guests with disabilities and can provide hoists, bed sides, showerchairs and even some profiling beds. The hotel stages a cabaret show most evenings and this could include a tribute act. If you’d like to visit Blackpool Zoo or the Sealife Centre the hotel runs it’s own trips in accessible vehicles. All through the year they host special events. Of particular interest is the Illuminations packages running through the autumn and the ‘Turkey and Tinsel’ weekends through November and December. And you have all the delights of Blackpool on the doorstep.
There’s always city based breaks. Cardiff is not too far away from Bristol and for the more adventurous there’s the bright lights and excitement of London.
For children there’s always places such as Alton Towers, Butlins and Center Parcs. The nearest Butlins to Bristol is at Minehead so that’s not too long a journey, and there’s a Center Parc near Longleat.
Holidays Abroad! Obviously going abroad is going to be more expensive but it could be a holiday of a lifetime. For children a trip to EuroDisney would be fantastic. The easiest way to travel there is by Eurostar, as the train goes straight to the Disneyland resort. We can hire any equipment you need from a company in Paris, although Disneyland Paris can provide bed sides and bath hoists.
Cruising is always a good option, especially if you sail from Southampton as then there is no weight limit. How about Italy? We can arrange a holiday for you at Centro Ferie Salvatore which is a specialist hotel about a mile from Rome. Every room is accessible and they also have their own vehicles for excursions.
If you have a particular country in mind we can probably find a suitable hotel or villa for you to stay in.
For the truly adventurous how about The Jubilee Sailing Trust. They have their own tall ships which are suitable for wheelchair-users. You must be prepared to swab the decks though!
